{"id":838,"date":"2016-01-01T14:50:11","date_gmt":"2016-01-01T19:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hope-of-glory.org\/?p=838"},"modified":"2017-06-22T12:17:37","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T16:17:37","slug":"collisions-of-grace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hope-of-glory.org\/collisions-of-grace\/","title":{"rendered":"Collisions of Grace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”2_3″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” text_font_size=”14″]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe and my sister can\u2019t go because we don\u2019t have the right supplies…\u201d, a long face told me as we waited anxiously for the last two campers before heading to Lake Kristi.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThe right supplies?\u201d I asked. \u201cYeah, like a bathing suit, towel and stuff.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s ok, just go grab an extra change of clothes and tell your mom you will be fine!\u201d\u00a0 Off to Lake Kristi we went in a van full of children excited and nervous for what was soon to be a \u201cDay 2 Remember\u201d, especially for one young boy who thought he would never experience it.<\/p>\n<p>Each summer, In His Wakes visits North Carolina, partnering with nonprofits to provide the opportunity of a lifetime for at-risk youth and giving them an unforgettable day on the water. Hope of Glory Ministries partnered with Raising Young Men and traveled to Lake Kristi for this Day to Remember (D2R) event which offers swimming, boat riding, tubing and other exciting activities that help them break through walls of fear, distrust, and low self-esteem.\u00a0 Fears turn into beautiful smiles and laughter as they are motivated by the wonderful team of ministry staff and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” text_font_size=”14″]<\/p>\n<p>Kristi Overton, former professional water skier, closes each event with a Gospel message pointing them to Jesus, His love, and His power to conquer fear and walk in \u201cvictory\u201d.\u00a0 This year the opportunity was given for anyone who has confessed Jesus as their Savior to be baptized right there in the lake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be baptized,\u201d says the smiling face that just enjoyed his D2R in a t-shirt and shorts.\u00a0 Over the next few minutes we spent time reviewing what it really meant to be baptized, then headed over with the others to watch the public proclamation of their faith.<\/p>\n<p>Praise God we don\u2019t have to \u201chave all the right supplies\u201d!\u00a0 Praise God that He graciously takes us as we are!\u00a0 T-shirts, shorts and all!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Our day to day…<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is just one of many \u201ccollisions of grace\u201d we experience often at Hope of Glory Ministries.\u00a0 Whether on outreach in the surrounding neighborhoods, studying God\u2019s Word, serving customers at our thrift store, or ministering to those with specific needs, broken people collide with us daily, thirsty for hope, healing, encouragement and restoration only found in Jesus.\u00a0 Our frontline thrift store cashiers, Randa, Cat, and Carmen greet them with their smiling faces and welcoming spirits.\u00a0 Tony, our resource center director, and Kathy, our Hispanic\/Latino outreach director, minister to their practical and spiritual needs during appointment are making sure the items are in their proper place.\u00a0\u00a0 Deeper into the warehouse, you will find Seth and JerMichael\u00a0handling donations and keeping our pantry stocked throughout the day.\u00a0Sweet Pete\u00a0spends time housecleaning around our facility.\u00a0 Lastly, one cannot forget the behind the scenes extensive administrative tasks that Judy handles, along with the executive duties to be managed.\u00a0 Whether on the \u201cfrontline\u201d or in the \u201ctrenches\u201d, our family is constantly seeking to show those we serve the light of Jesus, His love, kindness and truth.\u00a0\u00a0 We are striving to be of one mind and Spirit, operating as one body, with many members, serving in our giftings so that God is most glorified.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Faithful with a little…<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While reflecting on all God has done here at HOGM in the past 14 years, Jesus\u2019 teaching in the parable of the talents comes to my heart.\u00a0 His parable about a master, his servants, the Kingdom of Heaven, and the final judgment when Jesus returns serves as a model of obedience for each one of us today.\u00a0 He shares about a master who entrusted three servants to parts of his property and asked them to manage it while he was away on a journey.\u00a0 We see the faithfulness of the first two servants as they \u201ctraded\u201d and yielded more, opposed to the last servant, who hid his talent and was unprofitable then deemed <em>\u201cwicked and lazy\u201d. <\/em>To the first two he answers <em>\u201cWell done, good and faithful servant.<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/esv\/matthew\/25.htm#footnotes\"><em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/a><em>You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much.
